The visitation of spirits

Wandering blindly through deserted moments of feeling
Kept alive only by sharp blasts of memory
Chilling, riding an unforgiving jet stream of regret
And satisfaction and relief all at once

The pleasures that I knew then but realize now swirling
In the dust and disrepair of passing time
Shingles of our life together bumping against the walls
We’ve built up to protect us from what we shared

I’d give anything to live that love once again
Summer days filled with the brightest hope of your smile
Fighting to stretch beyond the corners of warm lips
Beaming devilment and desire from your eyes

I wander blindly through deserted, long-lost moments
Cast in stone  chiseled by the winds of time
Kept alive only by the chill of memories–
My misery, a visitation of spirits
