More Than I Can Bear

I sadly walked this earth without a friend
No safe warm hiding place to enter in
Wanting life to change-to begin again
It’s more than I could bear

No love found anywhere that I could see
My heart a mess wrapped up in tragedy
I cried myself sick washed in misery
It’s more than I could bear

My family looked at me with great contempt
They ridiculed me-weak and different
Support of any kind would was heaven-sent
It’s more than I could bear

I stood at the edge wishing I was gone
Loneliness just would not leave me alone
Did God think I could make it on my own
It’s more than I could bear

Hungry, homeless, rejected, and abused
My soul so weary from constant misuse
Then Jesus said, “My child, it’s you I choose”
It’s more than I could bear

He picked me up ever so gently
Carried me as His cross to Calvary
He told me, “Child, cast all your cares on me”
It’s more than I can bear

I write these words a living sacrifice
To let you know He paid the highest price
So that you too can know a love that fills your life
He’ll always be right there
It’s more than I can bear
