He Keeps On Doing Great Things For Me: A Triolet

So I took the Triolet Challenge as set forth by the blog We Drink Because We’re Poets on August 5, 2013.  It is an interesting structure that lends itself to iambic tetrameter–at least for me.  It felt natural, though I may attempt it with another rhythm. Here’s what I came up with on my first try.

God keeps on doing great things for me
Even though I deserved no chance
Once slave to sin’s captivity
God keeps on doing great things for me
A love designed to set me free
Despite my most dire circumstance
God keeps on doing great things for me
Even though I deserved no chance

  1. Though I cannot be classified as a believer, I feel this piece, and here’s why: it feels honest, appreciative, and humble. I think those three things make this a very, very strong piece, and your faith shows through. Nicely done. 🙂

    1. Thank you! I appreciate the compliment. I love Your blog “We Drink Because We Are Poets”. Even though this is the only challenge I’ve participated in, I enjoy reading others’ work. I have found quite a few writers that I’m following now.
