What Are the Contents Of Your Heart?

Your heart is a dangerous thing.

I’m not talking about the physical organ that pumps blood all day long.

I’m also NOT talking about the existential love muscle either.

I am speaking about the heart that is spoken of in the Bible–the seat of your innermost thoughts and desires, the incubator for the seeds you’ve sown, the place where hidden, secret and dark things linger.   The heart is a dangerous place.  Why?  Because what is there determines what happens on the outside

Good example:  The Bible says that the Devil was an anointed cherub until iniquity was found in him (Read Ezekiel 18).  Notice it didn’t say he sinned and then had iniquity–it was already there in him, then it came out.

And that is the key:  what is inside of you will come out of you.

We often give honor where it is NOT due but attributing our wrongdoings, bad sayings, mindsets, lifestyles and life harvests to the workings of the devil or demons or our environment or whatever. The reality is that none of these things just come out of nowhere.  If you have a habit of fighting with folks, chances are it wasn’t a “spirit” that just came upon you–nope, that tendency was already in you and you just physically manifested what was already there.  If you are a habitual liar, you didn’t get there overnight–years and years of lying EARLY in life made that your routine.  Jesus put it very plainly in Matthew 15 when he said, “But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man ‘unclean.’ For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. These are what make a man ‘unclean’; but eating with unwashed hands does not make him ‘unclean.’”

Have you checked your heart lately?
