My Hope Is Built On Nothing Less

Hope-is-an-anchor

Pushing through the winter pain
Hoping spring will come again
Weeping lasting for a night
Praying for joy like new sunlight

I feast upon what used to be
Struggling to get to what should be
My old man dead, new one confused
Born again trying to do the do’s

Instead of wrestling with the don’ts
My spirit will but my flesh won’t
The inner man at war in me
With who I used to love to be

I push and pull, I fight and grind
Battles recurring in my mind
Just-only because when I fall
I get back up and heed the call

For God I live; for God I die
I cry, I rail, I fail, I try
My hope built up on nothing less
Than Jesus blood and  righteousness
