Rain Doesn’t Hurt

Sitting in the wash
The water cool and crisp
My heart about to stop
No feeling quite like this

As dry on the inside
As my outside is wet
Wishing raindrops could hide
The thing I would forget

Teeth clenched like old vise grips
Pain edging out the cold
Rage chomping at the bits
Got me in a choke hold

Sitting in the storm
The lightening my backdrop
My anger keeps me warm
Where your arms just do not

And this here just won’t work
And nothing’s ever new
The rain, it doesn’t hurt me like you do
