Am I On Your Mind?

Caresses used to be
Kisses were honey dew
Heart raced in ecstasy
At the mere thought of you

And joy fell down like rain
The cooling soft and sweet
More love than I could claim
Simply swept off my feet

Time stood at gentle halt
My neck bent to your wish
My eyes finding no fault
In anything you did

When cracks begin to show
I looked the other way
The benefit, you know,
Given despite the pain

Mad dashes out the door
Goodnights now called goodbyes
It has happened before
I should not be surprised

Lips bitter to the taste
Hands roughs against my skin
Love made in empty haste
And here I go again

I awoke some time ago
Panic curving my spine
The thought brought me down low-
Am I even on your mind?
