Because I want to be intentional about expressing my gratitude even when I don’t feel like it…
Day 11: Not a lot to share today! Too much Benadryl because of the weather and sinuses that are adjusting to a new place.
My grateful today is simple, yet really hard to do if you are a driven person (like me): resting. I have learned how to rest–not just my body, but how to relax my mind. I have a tendency to run off with my thoughts (especially those negative ones that I was sharing with you before), and that is tiresome in a way that physical activity can never be. You never feel accomplished, a failure no matter what you do. You pick yourself and situations to death. Everything is so critical (both definitions) that you end up driving yourself crazy and stirring up drama that wouldn’t even exist otherwise.
Now that I am more mature, I recognize that part of the package that comes with being a child of the Most High is resting: resting in His salvation, resting in the knowledge that He will provide for me and my family, resting in the finished works of the cross. In all things, I can be at peace because God’s plans for me are better than my own. I just need to be willing to hear and obey His command–including that of sitting down and being still in His presence.
So thank God for the gift of rest. Now, I am getting ready to go do just that! Blessings on blessings!
“You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind [both its inclination and its character] is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on You, and hopes confidently in You.”
Isaiah 26:3 AMP
“For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.”
Hebrews 4:3 KJV
