Because I want to be intentional about expressing my gratitude even when I don’t feel like it…
Day 17: There are times when we do not get the attention that we probably deserve. We work ourselves to death only to find someone else getting credit for our hard work and acheivement. We watch as our family and friends surpass us notoriety and success. We wonder when our time will come: the great job, the awesome accolades, the mountaintop experience. We circle the mounting shouting at God: WHY NOT ME?
But there is power in being unnoticed. In the secret place, we are developed–character, patience, endurance. In those spaces in life where we seem to fade into the background, we have opportunity to affect change in ways that people in the limelight cannot.
Today, I am thankful for the times the God has hidden me. Though sometimes dark, those hidden moments have shown me who I am and what I can do. I am free to move as His perfect plan dictates instead of at the pleasure of men. I have learned to maneuver and like a thief in the night work miracles that get the job done. I am content in knowing that in due season I will reap what I have sown. I am confident in who I am because I have had to be comfortable with not having (and ultimately not needing) the spotlight. I have become the light in dark places.
“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”
Psalms 91:1 KJV
“He made darkness his secret place; his pavilion round about him were dark waters and thick clouds of the skies.”
Psalms 18:11 KJV
