One of my favorite gospel songs is one by the late great Rev. James Cleveland called “Thank You Makes Room For More.” The central idea of the song is that when you show gratitude, you create an environment for more: more opportunity, more blessing, more kindness. I didn’t realize until adulthood that my sincere thanks to people who just handed me stuff directly affected the amount of things they gave me.
I still say “thank you” with joy because come on! You literally do NOT have to read a thing I write or even click the link. I so appreciate your time and willingness to engage with me in what could be an impersonal medium. I appreciate you. I really do. You rock, and thank you so much for being a part of my growth, my community, and my calling!
